Food Drops

Food drops are done once a month. We accept any item you would buy in your weekly shop – food, toiletries, cleaning products etc. We have freezers at 3 businesses in Margaret River and 1 in Augusta. The idea is for you, the volunteer, to cook and drop off at any time throughout the month whenever suits you. Then we come in on the ‘food drop date’ day and divide and deliver! This should be more convenient for all our cooking volunteers, and we will hopefully always have a supply on hand which is handy for new families joining between drops.

Frozen items such as homemade meals can be left at all 4 drop off points. Please label and date all homemade food. Please note if it contains nuts. If you would like to leave any other frozen items e.g., meat, fish, dairy, etc. please ensure it is dated. There is a book at each premise for you to write your name and the food you have dropped off.

Please record what food you have dropped off, the date and please PRINT your name.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are dropping food at MR Motors, please check in at the front desk. DO NOT go directly to freezer as this is a safety issue. Please write your name and food in the book and you will then be escorted to the freezer.

Containers – We have food containers and labels for you to use. These are available at Margaret River Motors AND Leeuwin Tyres. They are in a large black container with River Angels’ logo on them. You may use your own containers, but they will NOT be returned to you. Non –perishable items can be dropped in the hamper basket with our logo at Margaret River Motors. Please ensure all items are in date, unopened and unused. We accept any product that you would normally buy in your weekly shop – food, cleaning, hygiene, pet food etc. Please be reminded that these businesses are kindly and very generously offering their premises to us so please try and keep disturbance to a minimum and be respectful of the staff.

There will be no food drop in December, but we will be creating Xmas hampers for the families so please feel free to donate any non-perishable items to contribute to this hamper.

Thank you for your interest and support of River Angels. Without your generous spirit, we would not be able to offer the services we currently do. Don’t forget you have all month to cook or package leftovers and freeze, then drop off whenever convenient to you.
