River Angels
Providing much needed support for Margaret River regional families who are suffering through or have been impacted by cancer
We coordinate a network of volunteers and incredible local businesses who provide services and their time to undertake activities such as emotional and mental support, cleaning, home maintenance, transport and many others for the families affected by cancer.
Providing financial support by contributing to food, medical, transport, heating and many other financial commitments.
The River Angels coordinate the making and the delivery of food for families affected by cancer. Whenever possible these packs include small treats that are donated by local businesses to add that little smile to the faces of the people affected by these awful circumstances.
Our charity organization was founded in 2011, by Lynda Donovan in the hope of setting up a support group that can provide emotional, physical and financial support through private and community donations, corporate sponsors and fundraising.
If you need help or know of someone who does, would like to volunteer or make a donation, contact River Angels on 0403 430 838, email hello@riverangels.org.au or visit our Facebook page.
Demand for River Angels’ support
Using AMR Shire’s projected future population and the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare’s all-cancer incidence rate, new cancer diagnoses in the local area will likely be between 92 and 95 cases annually by 2028.
Historically, River Angels support has been provided to around one-third of those in our community with a cancer diagnosis. This means that over the period to 2028, River Angels will be supporting between around 26 and 32 people with cancer and their families, annually. Over the last 2 years, we have supported 33 and 40 families respectively, therefore surpassing these projected diagnoses already.
